Anthony I. Butler, Esq.

Anthony is an experienced trial attorney and diversity and inclusion consultant.  Anthony’s experience includes significant work in several industry sectors, including:  financial services, sports and entertainment, manufacturing, and consumer products, where he has served organizations of all sizes in both legal and human resource capacities.  Specifically, Anthony has assisted clients with employee relations, management training and development, legal compliance, litigation management, and employment conflict investigations.  His broad consulting background gives him a unique perspective and the ability to develop creative and proactive solutions to complex matters for his clients.

In addition to his corporate practice Anthony assists individuals and families with a variety of legal issues.  Anthony advises his clients on Bankruptcy, Business Organization, Criminal Defense, Contracts, Employment Law, Family & Domestic Law, Non-Profit Management, Personal Injury, Real Estate and Trusts & Estate matters. 

An ardent believer of service to others, Anthony serves the legal profession in several ways.  Locally, he served as President of the Monumental City Bar Association (MCBA) in Baltimore, MD and currently serves on the MCBA Judicial Nominating Committee and the Judicial Nominating Committee and Legislative Affairs Committee of the J. Franklyn Bourne Bar Association. He also served as the Chairperson of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Minorities in the Legal Profession Committee and serves on its Solo & Small Firm Section Council. Nationally, Anthony has served the National Bar Association as a Young Lawyers Division (YLD) Delegate and panelist and currently sits on the executive board of the Small Business Law Section.  In the American Bar Association (ABA), Anthony was selected as a YLD Scholar in and later served as Chairperson of the ABA YLD Minorities in the Profession Committee. Additionally, he was a member of the Section of Litigation Newsletter Committee and received their Outstanding Newsletter Editor award and continues to serve on an ABA Advisory Panel.

Anthony shows his commitment to the community through his provision of pro bono legal services.  He often speaks as a panelist at local events sponsored by community organizations and serves as a Board Member and volunteer attorney with Maryland Volunteer Lawyer Services, Inc.  Anthony is also a member of and volunteers with Black Professional Men, Inc., and serves on the Board of Directors of Family and Children Services of Central Maryland.

In recognition of his service to his profession and community Anthony was honored as a 40 Lawyers Under 40 by the National Bar Association, a VIP List Successful by 40 recipient by the The Daily Record, a 2011 Greater Baltimore Committee Bridging The Gap nominee, and was recognized as a 2015 Leadership in Law awardee by The Daily Record.

Although Anthony has devoted his professional career to law his true passion is music. Anthony grew up watching his father and uncle perform in a band managed by his grandfather. When he’s not working on a client matter you’re likely to find him sifting through cds and vinyl records at a record store, enjoying a live performance at  local venue, or playing a “lick” or two on one of his guitars.
